Cape Town & Johannesburg vs. Rural Villages
SOUTH AFRICA VP | BaM
Vantage Point BaM is Identifying a cross over missionin both the city & rural livelihood, with our neighbors to the south.
Recent consultation with a Lady from Johannesburg,
has inquired about our SOHI mission | philosophy | success.
There seams to be evidence of a dicotomy in a lot of the
surrounding African countries. Yet, eventhough there is a vast divergence, between rural and city folk in a 2nd/3rd world country, the trouble shooting to assist the most vulnerable is still the same. Just as in Uganda's Capitol city Kampala, has it's share of slums, so too do the big cities of Cape Town, & Johannasburg.
And just like in Masaka or Gulu, Uganda (Rural Villages), the culture of small villages in South Africa are much the same. The "religious" back stories may be unique but there are very similar cycles to both...
Our family has supported some long term missionaries for decades in South Africa, & recently a seredipitous consult with a national, has encouraged our efforts with SOHI, not only in East Africa, but also some mutual missions in South Africa. The consultation was an inquiry about how SOHI is operating in both the city & rural contexts ~ after a lengthy dialogue a kindred relationship has formed.
There is still much to be written,
but for now we have bonded over the mutual effort
to love on the least of these.
